چکیده

Momordica cymbalaria is an underutilized, non-cultivated cucurbit often seen as a weed. A study to record diversity of pollinators in M. was conducted during September November, 2021 Virudhunagar (Tamil Nadu). total 26 species (18 hymenopterans, 5 dipterans, 2 coleopterans and 1 hemipteran) were found pollinators. Hymenopterans the predominant (69.23%; 38.47% solitary bees 15.38% each social ants). Dominating Lasioglossum sp. >Dorymyrmex >Technomyrmex albipes>Trigona iridipennis > Halictus >Apis florea. The mean population Lassioglossum maximum (6.24 bees/ m2/ min) 1000 1200 hr. Other also foraging Ants frequenting flowers from 0900 1800 Species richness hr (17 species) minimum 1600 (6 species). evenness not noticed throughout hours observation indicated unevenness. Thus, mainly pollinated by like little extent T. iridipennis.

An Overlooked Paleotetraploidization in Cucurbitaceae

Cucurbitaceae plants are of considerable biological and economic importance, and genomes of cucumber, watermelon, and melon have been sequenced. However, a comparative genomics exploration of their genome structures and evolution has not been available. Here, we aimed at performing a hierarchical inference of genomic homology resulted from recursive paleopolyploidizations. Unexpectedly, we foun...

Pollinator perils

increasing burden of inaccurate data. The pressure on young scientists to succeed is so great, and it is difficult for more experienced scientists to supervise students and postdocs carefully in large labs. Thus, I think there is a real danger that diminishing quality control could lead to a dramatic increase in the publication of incorrect data. Once published, it is difficult for anyone to pu...

Phytochemistry, anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities of the aqueous leaf extract of Lagenaria breviflora (Cucurbitaceae) in laboratory animals.

The plant, and especially the fruit of Lagenaria breviflora is widely used in folklore medicine in West Africa as a herbal remedy for the treatment of human measles, digestive disorders, and as wound antiseptics (e.g. umbilical incision wound), while livestock farmers use it for Newcastle disease and coccidiosis treatment in various animal species, especially poultry. The purpose of this study ...

Phylogeny and Evolution of the Cucurbitaceae

The Cucurbitaceae family contains about 1000 species in 96 genera. Representatives of all genera (except the extinct Khmeriosicyos) and a large percentage of the species have been sequenced for the ribosomal RNA transcribed spacer regions and variable regions of the plastid and mitochondrial genome. These data have allowed to infer evolutionary relationships in the family. The major phylogeneti...
